In different seasons of life I’ve had different reasons.
I STUDIED FINE ARTS as a freshman in COLLEGE THEN CHANGED DIRECTION. YEARS LATER DURING A SUMMER VACATION IN VERO BEACH, FL PICKED UP WATERCOLORS, GOT HOOKED AND HAVE BEEN PAINTING EVER SINCE. AS A FULL TIME MOTHER OF SIX CHILDREN, drawing and painting allowED "ME TIME." NOW AS A PALLIATIVE CARE COUNSELOR PROVIDING PATIENT AND FAMILY SUPPORT TO THOSE AT END-OF-LIFE OR IN CRISIS, PAINTING HAS BECOME A form OF SELF CARE and meditation, expression and growth. It's a pleasure.
I ENJOY DRAWING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BRAIN!
essentially Self-taught with art courses along the way AT THE NEW SCHOOL, PARSONS, AND THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM.
mastering acrylics,a weeklong summer workshop in 2013 with artist and author nancy reyner at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass, CO BROUGHT MY PAINTING TO A NEW LEVEL. her opening day introduction comment "to compare oil paints to acrylics is to compare the typewriter to the laptop" added dimension to my palette and painting style. I became more adventuresome and more confident in my art-making. Summer 2016, I returned to Anderson Ranch for
The Radiant Language of Colorwith Katherine Alexander. I EXPANDED UPON MY USE OF COLOR AND TECHNIQUE TO CREATE ATMOSPHERE, VOLUME AND DEPTH IN MY PAINTINGS.
